4K front recording with a built-in LTE modem for remote Cloud access.

The BlackVue DR970X-2CH LTE Plus II records 4K at 30FPS ahead and Full HD 1080p at 30FPS behind, with a Sony STARVIS 2 sensor in front. Its built-in LTE modem and nano-SIM slot connect the camera to BlackVue Cloud without an external module, so you can check remote live view and event alerts when you are away from the vehicle.

This is the North American version. BlackVue lists T-Mobile in the US and Rogers or Telus in Canada; AT&T, Verizon and Bell are not supported. The nano-SIM, mobile data plan and any Cloud subscription are sold separately. Both cameras, the rear connection cable, a hardwiring cable, a USB-C power cable with vehicle adapter, a 64GB microSD card and a 2-year manufacturer warranty are included.

Built-in LTE and what it needs

The front unit has a nano-SIM slot and supports LTE bands B2, B4 and B12. Check SIM compatibility, IMEI activation and APN requirements with your carrier before buying service; a SIM that works in a phone may not work in this camera. Cloud features also need camera power, a BlackVue account and the right settings, and plan limits and data charges are separate.

Local microSD recording and nearby Wi-Fi access work without any subscription or data plan. Remote notifications stop if the camera loses power or signal.

Parking recording and power

The included hardwiring cable supplies constant power and an ignition signal, so the camera switches to parking mode when the vehicle turns off. Set the voltage cutoff and timer for your vehicle and battery. The USB-C cable and vehicle adapter are for driving setups; BlackVue's installation guide specifies hardwiring or a battery pack for recording with the engine off. A separate battery pack such as the BlackVue B-130A is sold separately.

Storage and video

A 64GB card is included, and current Series II firmware supports BlackVue microSD cards up to 1TB. Choose H.265 for efficient compression and the front camera's maximum 60Mbps setting, or H.264 for broader playback compatibility; both save MP4 files. Up to 50 event files can be protected, but formatting deletes everything, so export important clips. HDR is supported through the Series II firmware line.

Setup notes

Insert and activate the nano-SIM, then set up the camera in the current BlackVue app and test both Wi-Fi and Cloud connections before relying on remote alerts. Mount and aim both cameras, check an original recording, and route cables clear of airbags. The touch sensor can be set to save a manual event.
