The BlackVue DR590X-1CH Plus records the road ahead at 1080p and 60FPS, capturing motion more smoothly than 30FPS cameras. A Sony STARVIS sensor helps in changing light, and the compact cylindrical design tucks neatly behind the mirror. Use the BlackVue app over local Wi-Fi to aim the camera, change settings and download clips.

This package includes a front camera only. There is no rear camera. A hardwiring cable, a cigarette-lighter adapter, a 32GB BlackVue microSD card with card reader and a 2-year manufacturer warranty are included. The optional external GPS receiver is sold separately. This model has no screen, no Bluetooth pairing and no remote Cloud or LTE access.

Parking recording and power

The included hardwiring cable connects to your vehicle's fuse panel. With battery protection enabled, the camera switches to parking mode when the ignition turns off. Set the voltage cutoff and timer in the BlackVue app to suit your battery and driving habits.

Continued monitoring depends on available power. Voltage protection reduces the risk of a drained battery but does not guarantee a start in every condition. A separate dash cam battery pack, sold separately, is another option. The supercapacitor only supports safe shutdown; it does not power overnight recording.

Storage and connectivity

Video saves as H.264 MP4 files to a microSD card. The camera supports 32GB to 512GB cards with current firmware, and the included 32GB card gets you started. Higher quality settings fill a card faster. Loop recording overwrites ordinary footage, so copy important clips promptly.

Wi-Fi is a direct camera-to-phone connection. There is no remote live view, LTE or vehicle tracking. Add the optional BlackVue GPS receiver if you want speed and location recorded with your footage.

Setup and firmware notes

Mount the camera behind the rearview mirror, adjust the angle and check the live view in the app before finalizing the wiring. Keep the camera and cable clear of your view and airbag deployment areas. Remove the lens film, and check the microphone setting after installation.

Use firmware for the DR590X-1CH Plus specifically, not the original DR590X. Back up important recordings before updating, then recheck the time zone, video settings and parking protection.
