Keep your windshield setup compact with the VIOFO VS1 Mini 2K HDR dash cam. Designed for drivers who prefer a small front camera and phone-based setup, it records the road ahead at 30FPS with a Sony STARVIS 2 sensor, built-in GPS and dual-band local Wi-Fi.
This is a front-only camera with no screen or rear-camera input. A VIOFO 32GB microSD card is included. Automatic parking recording requires the separately sold VS1-specific HK5 hardwire kit and a suitable installation.
Why choose the VIOFO VS1 Mini?
-
Compact, screen-free design: The small body can fit behind many rear-view mirrors. Use the nearby phone app to preview the view and aim the lens while parked.
-
2K HDR recording: Capture 2560 × 1440 video at 30FPS using a 5MP Sony STARVIS 2 IMX675 sensor and a 140° F1.6 lens.
-
HDR for changing light: Balance bright highlights and darker areas, such as tunnel exits. Enable HDR or set the HDR timer in the VIOFO app.
-
Voice controls and spoken status: Supported commands let you take a photo, lock video, start recording and switch audio or Wi-Fi. Spoken notifications report camera status and recording problems separately.
-
Local Wi-Fi and recorded GPS: Connect over 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi for preview, settings, playback and downloads. GPS saves position, speed and time when a satellite signal is available.
-
Memory card included: Start with the supplied VIOFO 32GB card, or choose a compatible high-endurance card up to 512GB for more recording space.
Recording and connectivity limits
The VS1 records at 30FPS; there is no 60FPS option and a rear camera cannot be added. For comparison, the A119 MINI 2 offers a built-in display and 2K 60FPS with HDR off, while an A229 Plus 2CH system provides connected front-and-rear coverage.
Wi-Fi works with a nearby phone, not remotely. The VS1 has no LTE modem or Cloud connection for remote viewing, parking notifications or live vehicle tracking. GPS records location data with footage rather than providing remote tracking. Download footage to review the recorded route in the app or VIOFO Player. Transfer speed varies with your phone, interference and file size.
HDR and the sensor do not guarantee readable license plates in every situation. Speed, distance, glare and lighting affect detail. Keep the windshield and lens clean, and check original recordings in daylight and at night.
Parking recording and the correct power kit
Use the VIOFO HK5 hardwire kit, sold separately, for constant power and an ignition signal for automatic parking mode. Match fuse taps to your vehicle, configure the voltage cutoff and test the installation. Do not substitute HK3, HK4 or HK6 simply because some kits use USB-C connectors.
-
Buffered Auto Event Detection: Saves footage from before and after detected motion or impact with a supported continuous power supply.
-
Time-lapse: Records continuously at a reduced frame rate without audio.
-
Low-bitrate recording: Records continuous video and audio in smaller files.
Parking duration depends on available power, temperature and settings. Set a recording timer where appropriate. A charger in an ignition-switched socket stops supplying power when the engine is off. The supercapacitor helps finish saving a file when power ends; it cannot power the camera by itself.

Installation, file care and updates
Mount the camera in a clear, wiper-cleaned area without obstructing your view. Use app preview while parked to check placement and aim the lens. Stop recording before changing app settings, then resume recording before driving. Set up and test preferred voice commands while parked.
For dashboard reflections, select the VS1-specific CPL-400 rather than CPL-100 or CPL-200. Check the recorded view after fitting the filter, including at night.
Download important clips promptly or copy them to a computer. Loop recording replaces older ordinary files as the card fills. Turn the camera off before removing the card. Formatting erases footage, so back up needed files first and check a new recording after reinserting the card.
Use VS1-specific firmware and instructions. Back up recordings and note settings before formatting or updating, keep power stable during the update and recheck recording, time, Wi-Fi and parking settings afterwards. Do not install another model's firmware or force a downgrade.
